Appointed in January 2025 by President John Dramani Mahama, he currently serves as the Ashanti Regional Minister, holding the distinction of being the youngest person in Ghana's history to assume such a role. His work seamlessly integrates deep healthcare expertise with a profound commitment to effective governance and youth empowerment.

Born in Accra on September 24, 1990, Dr. Amoakohene hails from Nsuta-Asuafu in the Ashanti Region. His academic journey began at Osei Tutu Secondary School, which laid the foundation for a distinguished career in health sciences. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the University of Ghana in 2014, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 2020 from the same institution.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge, he further specialized with a Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science (DMLS) from the University for Development Studies (UDS) in 2023. This foundation in youth leadership propelled his transition into mainstream politics with the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He ran as the NDC parliamentary candidate for the Mampong constituency in 2020 and later served as the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, where he played a crucial role in party organization and strategy.
